Keep your shipments safe
Hazardous Cargo
For the safety of cargo handlers, ships, and their crews, it is vital that we are informed in advance of any potentially dangerous contents. All hazardous items must be identified to ensure safe handling and shipping.
ALL Hazardous Materials MUST be declared during the shipping process. Failure to declare Hazardous Materials may lead to cargoes being held back and government penalties incurred.
To declare hazardous materials, visit our How to Ship page for additional forms to fill out and submit.
Air Conditioning Products
Refrigeration equipment commonly relies on hazardous gases. Where present, they should be identifiable by a trade name such as Freon, or by a code number (e.g. R134A, R410A).
Alcohol Based Products
Many cosmetics and cleaning products contain a high proportion of alcohol; alcoholic beverages must also be declared, depending on the package size and alcohol proof rating.
Batteries
Spill and heat/explosion hazards exist where larger batteries are present. This applies to domestic car batteries, as well as any portable powered devices, from laptops to lawn care products, cordless drills to cameras.
Explosives
Firearms and ammunition are recognizably hazardous, but so too are flares, fireworks and fire hazard products. If in any doubt, make a declaration.
Lighters & Matches
All forms of flame creating products present a fire hazard, including cigar lighters, BBQ grill lighters and small candle lighters, conventional box or book matches.
Pool Products
The chemicals used in keeping pools clean are classed as corrosive and are physically and environmentally dangerous, especially in an undiluted state.
